Directed by Kristi Licare and supported by the area’s top sectional coaches, the PVYO Concert Band gives students a unique opportunity to develop and perform with other talented musicians of a similar age and caliber.
The Concert Band is an exciting ensemble for band musicians in middle school and early high school. This program attracts band musicians from Northern Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC schools and provides a unique experience of performing at the Music Center at Strathmore. The Concert Band is also a perfect supplement to any district all-county, regional honors band or All-State Band and students may choose to audition using material used for acceptance into one of those programs. Many choose an appropriate solo as indicated in the audition requirements. After the first concert, the PVYO Concert Band will be on winter break so selected members can perform in their county or state ensembles. Rehearsals will resume in February for a great spring semester. This is a wonderful opportunity for young wind and percussion students to develop their skills in an encouraging, fun, and enriching environment!
