Exciting Program Enhancements!
PVYO is excited to announce that our 2014 Spring performances will be at The Music Center at Strathmore on Friday May 9, 2014, 7:00 p.m.! All of our PVYO ensembles will be showcased in this Gala event! This is a wonderful opportunity for our students and exciting time for PVYO as all of our members and families will be sharing this event together. Tickets will be available through the Ticket Center at Strathmore. Additional details will come out when our spring semester resumes.
PVYO would like to congratulate all of the student musicians, teachers, coaches and conductors for presenting two wonderful Winter Concerts! Eight ensembles showcased over 300 student musicians who performed to packed houses! It was wonderful listening to all of the students perform so beautifully and seeing so many families and friends enjoying the concerts. Afterwards, many teachers and parents remarked on the growth PVYO continues to make, clearly a wonderful testament to all of the planning and preparation that began last spring, accelerated during the summer and culminated Saturday. PVYO is excited to welcome Jennifer Van Petten to its artistic staff as a sectional coach. Ms. Van Petten brings a tremendous amount of experience and expertise to PVYO. She has established herself as one of the premier music educators and conductors in the region, and is well known for her charisma, enthusiasm, energy, and attention to musical detail. The Potomac Valley Youth Orchestra, (PVYO) is delighted to announce exciting enhancements to our great team of educators and conductors. First, we would like to welcome David Levin and Scott Herman to the PVYO team! Mr. Levin will be joining PVYO as Music Education Director, working with students throughout the entire PVYO organization. Mr. Levin recently stepped down as the Education Director and Philharmonic Conductor of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras and is thrilled to be bringing his background and leadership to PVYO.
